Matt Lewin
CEO
Stepping up from COO to CEO in February 2013, Matt handles the day-to-day operations of the business. He is also charged with developing and executing upon strategies to drive Peak toward sustained, predictable growth. Matt’s two-pronged approach focuses on constantly improving efficiency while simultaneously ensuring Peak’s staff and customers are insanely happy.
Matt consulted for Peak Hosting in a variety of capacities for several years prior to his joining the company full-time in November 2010. Before joining Peak, Matt served as the Executive Vice President of Technology for Spark Networks. Matt was the lead architect and engineering manager for Yahoo! Mail during Yahoo!’s high growth phase. During his tenure, Yahoo! Mail grew from approximately one million to approximately 100 million users, was released in 22 languages, and became the chief source of traffic to the Yahoo! Network. He has served in a variety of roles, both technical and non-technical, at various companies, including Network Appliance, Earthlink, and General Magic. Matt holds a Bachelor of Science and engineering in computer science from UCLA.
Jeffrey Papen
Founder, Evangelist, and Visionary
Current Peak Hosting-evangelist and visionary, Jeffrey is founder of Peak Hosting and Peak Web Consulting. Over the past 10 years Peak Hosting has established itself as a major player by delivering on the highest profile data center projects. Peak Web Consulting is a network outsource company that runs the networks for many leading Web 2.0 companies today and architects national network backbones and manages connectivity between datacenters around the world.
Prior to establishing Peak Hosting, Jeffrey amassed over 20 years experience implementing BGP load-balancing and multihoming policies at both at Y! and Excite@Home. Jeffrey has developed proprietary network analysis tools to enhance his client implementations including: SQL-based bandwidth usage and billing reconciliation (Happydog), ISP SLA testing (Glacier), BGP transit analysis (TUNDRA), and non-invasive multihoming performance testing (Alpine).
A Computer Science Engineering graduate of UCLA, an analyst for Coleman Research Group, and frequent industry lecturer, Jeffrey has invested his time and expertise in mentorship for many incubator/accelerator programs.
Susan Lucchesi
Controller
As Controller at Peak since early 2008, Susan is responsible for all Finance and Accounting functions for the company. In this role she locates funding for capital expenditures, finalizes all financial reporting for both internal and external purposes, manages Treasury functions, oversees any necessary audits, manages an accounting staff of three, and acts as liaison to the company’s outside financial contacts.
Through her experience and education, Susan has refined her natural ability with numbers and developed the skills to both successfully lead an accounting team and also implement and improve internal accounting procedures. She has worked as a Management Accountant in multiple industries, including Construction, Property Management, and Equipment Rental. She brings the unique perspective of a former business owner of fourteen years to her position. She has also spent countless hours volunteering her accounting abilities to Non-Profit Organizations.
Susan did her undergraduate work at University of California Irvine, where she earned a BA in English, and also holds an MBA with an Emphasis in Accounting from the University of Phoenix. She is a long-time member of the Institute of Management Accountants.
Derek Balling
Chief Technical Officer
Before working at Peak, Derek was the Data Center Manager for Top-20 web site Answers.com, and oversaw its 500% infrastructure growth. He has also managed technology teams in the academic world, as the Manager of Systems Administration at Vassar College. He developed and maintained a significant portion of Yahoo’s performance, monitoring infrastructure during the web site’s heyday. Derek has served in a variety of roles in the healthcare and online-retail industries.
As CTO, Derek leads our technology groups and provides direction and guidance to allow Peak to answer customer needs of today, as well as prepare for handling the needs of tomorrow.
Scott Mitchell
National Sales Director
Peak Web Hosting added Scott Mitchell to its senior leadership team to bring focus to our mission of growth and sales talent management. Scott is an accomplished sales leader with an extensive professional background running teams while serving in key roles of responsibility in sales supervision, professional services sales, and IT services outsourcing for three well-known and regarded technology and service driven organizations – Verizon, Ericsson, and Rackspace.
Scott led the Central Region Sales organization for Rackspace, which included large enterprise customer hosting sales to both (new) acquisition and installed based customers. Scott’s coverage territory was the largest geography managed in the enterprise segment made up of twenty-five states and containing over 60% of the Fortune 2000 customers served by Rackspace.
Prior to Rackspace, Scott spent seven years at Ericsson as the Director of Global Services Sales where he led Ericsson’s North American efforts selling complex services solutions into AT&T’s national U-Verse network infrastructure business. In this role Scott was responsible for managing strategic growth objectives for the services portfolio while leading involved resources across the globe in functional areas such as sales engineering, product management, consulting, partnership teaming, bid development, legal, and critical project support delivery teams.
Scott began his career in Tampa, Florida with Verizon where he designed, built and launched an outbound B2B sales and direct marketing team that covered mid-market customers distributed across 19-states. Subsequently, he rose steadily through the ranks of Verizon experiencing consistent success within that organization and spent his final five years at Verizon in the capacity of General Manager of a National Accounts sales team, focused on growing their large enterprise client base.
Scott holds a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) in Marketing from The University of Texas at Austin and later earned his Masters of Business Administration (MBA) from Baylor University.
Emily Crader
VP of Business Operations
As Vice President of Business Operations, Emily handles the day-to-day management of Peak Hosting’s Marketing and Business Development teams. She is responsible for organizing the entire marketing team with focus and direction, as well as advising the CEO and Founder on strategy and areas of improvement.
Before working with Peak Hosting, Emily was the Director of Digital at Prima Games, an imprint of Random House, where she was responsible for the strategy behind their digital business, marketing, and product. Her extensive development and marketing experienced helped increase new visitors by 800% at launch with continued growth, as well as increasing ipad and iphone app sales by 1400% in one year.
Emily’s ability to lead mult-channel programs while also focusing on the day-to-day activities guides the Peak Hosting team with clear communication, maintaining high standards and professional appeal for clients.
